MLA Phoenix - Day Two (mostly)

May 22nd, 2006 Stewart Posted in Uncategorized |

Again, my good intentions have gotten the better of me as I have found myself so entrenched in MLA Annual Meeting activities that I haven’t been able to find the time to post. I think I’m going to wait ’til my return to post anything about the length and breadth of the conference, but I have a few minutes and thought I’d at least get some thoughts down:

  • Some decent paper presentations this year. The ideas that are coming down to me regarding better, faster ways of developing online tutorials with a minimum of fuss are illuminating.
  • We need better swag to give away in our workshops and seminars at the HSL. Don’t know how to pull that one off with no budget, but I’ll think of something.
  • I need to get in gear developing some new CE courses for MLA. Two major ideas I have are about the Millennials and information literacy, and about new technologies for library promotion and outreach.
  • I really must remember to skip the Business Meeting next year. It always sounds more fun than it actually is.

That’s all for now. Tonight several of the vendors are throwing parties and I’m looking forward to cutting loose with the other attendees. When I post again, it will be after my return home.
